More than 30 volunteers -- Evanston Lighthouse Rotarians, Cub Scouts, Boys Scouts and community members -- met on Saturday morning, September 20th, to clean-up the Lake Michigan shoreline.  The group collected more than 65 pounds of trash from the beach and dunes.

Adopt-A-Beach is the Alliance for the Great Lakes' premier volunteer program.  More than just a beach sweep, Adopt-A-Beach teams conduct litter removal and monitoring and complete a beach health assessment that includes science-based observation and testing.  The teams collect information and enter it into the online system, where it is used to educate the public, share with local beach authorities and improve beaches.

Twice a year, the Evanston Lighthouse Rotary spearheads this effort locally.   Thanks to our community partners who help with this important work!
