Announcements
Marv Edelstein said that three club members have so far signed up to attend the RYLA retreat this weekend. He asked that those members who are attending tell him whether they are staying overnight. Brad said that he plans to attend the RYLA retreat over the weekend of April 8-9.
Bob Teska praised the youth leadership day meeting on March 3 at RI. Thirty-five high school students attended. Bob thanked the club members who participated. Bob said that new Interact clubs are being created at Roycemore School and Beacon Academy. Bob praised Marv’s efforts to promote Interact clubs by building relationships with the faculty and administrators at local schools.
Brad announced that there will be a Board meeting at his home on March 13, beginning at 7:15 p.m. Brad also announced that District 6440 has purchased a block of tickets for the July 29 Brewers/Cubs baseball game in Milwaukee. He also announced that training for future club officers for the next fiscal year will take place on May 20 at Harper College.
Ann Searles announced that there will be a club fellowship dinner next Tuesday, March 14, at 6 p.m. at Mt. Everest Restaurant, 630 Church St. The cost of food will be less than $20.
Susan Prout announced a Bundled Blessings volunteer event for the night of March 7.
Kathy Tate-Bradish announced that the Evanston League of Women Voters will be holding candidate forums on March 7 (District 202 candidates), March 14 (City Clerk and District 65 candidates), and March 18 (municipal candidates).
Marisa Naujokas announced that she is seeking volunteers to work with her on the Club and social media. She held a piano meeting after the Club breakfast.
Nancy Franzon announced that the California Lutheran Choir will be performing at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Evanston, on March 18 at 8 p.m. She is seeking volunteers to house members of the choir on the 18th.
Brad welcomed Lesley Peters back and thanked her for her fine work as Club Secretary.

Arias Sung By Emily Volz
Harold Bauer introduced soprano Emily Volz, who sang arias from “Romeo and Juliet” (Gounod); “La Rondine” (Puccini); “Rusalka” (Dvorak); “La Boheme (Puccini); and “Die Fledermuas” (Strauss). Ken Smith accompanied Emily on the piano. At the conclusion of the program, the Club gave Emily a standing ovation.
Brad thanked Emily, Harold, and Ken and said that the Club is donating “Operetta: A Theatrical History” by Richard Traubner to the Evanston Public Library in honor of the performance.
