By Myra Janus
President Bryant Wallace called the meeting to order.
The Statement of Purpose and Thought for the Day was read by Ann Weatherhead and included remarks from representatives of Connections for the Homeless and Reba Place Development Corporation. For details, refer to the recording.
The Land Acknowledgement was read by Bryant Wallace.
Ann Searles  - Thanks to the folks who worked on Golf Road on Sept 9, 2023: Albert Menard, Joann Greene, John Searles, Allison Plyer, Kay Hamel (a New England Village neighbor).

Bill Glader – Taste of Evanston- The 500 tickets for the event have sold out. If you are not using yours, please make them available for those people who did not get to purchase one. Bill made special mention of Sandy Chen who hired her PR person to arrange for the spot on WGN.
Jose Lopez: - Notes from the International Service Committee Meeting (submitted, but not read at the meeting). John Cook of Antioch RC presented Global Grant 2348775 to the International Service Committee. This project seeks funding for medical equipment to support three frontline hospitals at Donetsk and Dnipro regions in Ukraine. The host club is the Rivne Rotary Club. The total budget for this global grant is around $31,500. After a very useful discussion, Harold Bauer suggested pledging $1,500 to this global grant. Committee agreed unanimously. Maribeth informed the ISC that the Kololo-Kampala Rotary Club’s global grant is progressing successfully. As of September 9, 2023 our club in its role as GG International Host reached 75% of its fundraising goal. Goal $84,229 - $64,440 raised = $19,789 to go.
Mark Werwath was instrumental in having a special presenter at the last ISC meeting. Katie Hanlon, Executive Director – Chicago - PROJECT C.U.R.E. This organization has been delivering life-saving medical equipment and supplies to hospitals and clinics throughout the under-resourced world since 1987. Ms. Hanlon is a Rotarian and understands the global grant process. She invited ELRC to tour their Chicago warehouse. More on the tour later. The Committee received a disaster relief announcement from Governor Mary Bak for the wildfires in Maui. The committee encourages ELRC’s members, if they so desire, to make a contribution to that disaster relief fund on their own at:
